Grey Hack

Grey Hack is a multiplayer hacking simulator set across a vast network of procedurally generated computers. Players investigate systems with different configurations and security levels, search for vulnerabilities, use social engineering and exploits, open backdoors, and try to cover their tracks. In the persistent online world, changes made to computers remain in place and may affect other players even when the hacker who made them is offline.

The starting toolkit includes a file manager, terminal, and text editor, with additional utilities available as skills improve. The terminal uses commands based on UNIX, and an in-game scripting language lets players modify existing commands and exploits or create their own. In the nonlinear sandbox, players can take commissioned missions for money and reputation, form guilds and coordinate attacks, publish web pages, or explore alone. A separate single-player mode is also available.
