Junk Jack is a 2D sandbox about survival and construction in procedurally generated worlds. The player explores caves and biomes, gathers materials and treasure, fights creatures and enemies, and builds and furnishes a home. Worlds differ from one another and change with the day-and-night cycle, while lighting comes from a variety of sources.
A range of materials and recipes can be used for building and crafting, with an in-game book helping players learn them. Homes can be decorated with furniture, paintings, and other objects, and items can be displayed on shelves. The world has separate background and foreground layers, allowing both to be customized around a player's creations.
