This action game follows an adventure in a kingdom of toys, where the player collects and battles Toy Pokémon. The king asks the adventurer to gather more Pokémon than a mysterious magician who has captured several of them, and lends the hero a Pikachu. From the castle town, hot-air balloons carry the adventurer to different areas filled with wild Pokémon; some become friends after being defeated.
Collecting new species raises the Adventurer Rank, unlocking more shop items and bringing stronger opponents to stages. Mii characters also visit the castle town and can provide support in later battles. The game features Pokémon from the video games through Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire, including Pokémon that can Mega Evolve.
