Wyrmsun is a real-time strategy game that draws on mythology, history and fiction. Its universe includes humans on Earth, dwarves on Nidavellir and elves on Alfheim, with three playable civilizations using tools made of stone, bronze and iron. Story-based scenarios take place on large maps.
Players command units, construct buildings and develop technologies. Units gain experience and can advance into new types or learn abilities as they level up. Persistent heroes carry their levels, abilities and items between scenarios, while enemies can drop ordinary, enchanted and unique items. An in-game encyclopedia covers the game’s units, buildings and other elements, along with their historical and mythological sources of inspiration.
