This arcade fighting game centers on tensions between humans and zoanthropes, beings who can take on beast forms. Five years after the events of the first game, peaceful coexistence is threatened by the Zoanthrope Liberation Front, an organization advocating zoanthrope supremacy and hostile to both humans and zoanthropes who oppose it.
During fights, characters can transform into beasts to gain new attacks, recover some health, and increase their speed or attack power. The sequel also introduces Beast Drives: powerful special attacks that vary from character to character.
