This turn-based military strategy simulation covers the Western Front of World War II, from the Allied invasions of Sicily and Italy in 1943 through the invasion of France and the advance into Germany. In Gary Grigsby’s War in the West, players plan land and air operations, including strategic bombing, and can pursue alternative approaches to the campaigns.
The game models ground and air combat, logistics involving railways, depots, trucks and ports, and weather that changes as fronts move across the map. Its detailed order of battle includes individual squads, vehicles and aircraft. A German-player option also tracks the Eastern Front and allows strategic decisions about dividing forces between the two fronts.
