This fantasy action game with fighting elements follows Nariko, a warrior who takes up the Heavenly Sword to avenge the destruction of her clan by an invading king. The ancient weapon once belonged to a deity and drains the life of any mortal who wields it, leaving Nariko to undertake a final mission at the cost of her own life.
The sword has three stances that can be switched during combat, allowing different fighting styles. Battles range from one-on-one encounters to clashes with groups of enemies that coordinate their attacks. The environment also plays a part in combat: Nariko can sweep debris into opponents, topple tables to stop advancing fighters, and throw enemies into one another.
