Qvadriga is a tactical chariot-racing game set in the circuses of ancient Rome, where the player manages a team racing with a four-horse chariot. In the campaign, the team builds its reputation by progressing from modest provincial tracks to competitions at the Circus Maximus. Drivers can be trained, chariots upgraded and horses selected for their attributes; the game features six historical factions and seven regions.
During races, the player chooses tactics such as controlling the horses, picking a lane, negotiating turns, avoiding attacks and obstructing rivals. Tracks vary in shape and size, as does the number of opposing teams. Races can be played either in paused, turn-based mode or as continuous real-time action.
