A character-driven strategy game about rival Japanese lords vying for power in 16th-century Japan during the Sengoku period. The player leads a nobleman seeking to unite the country through military force, negotiation, and guile, while managing relationships with family, friends, and enemies.
The ruler builds influence within his clan before pursuing control of Japan and the title of shogun. The historical map is divided into more than 350 provinces. As the realm expands, the player can reward loyal retainers, manage relations with Shinto, Christian, and Buddhist factions, enlist ninja clans, and ensure an heir is in place should the ruler die.
