Arcade
Arcade ist ein Genre von Videospielen, das eine einfache Spielmechanik verwendet. Oft wird wenig Aufmerksamkeit auf die Handlung und die Charakterentwicklung gelegt. Arcades sind darauf ausgelegt, eine leichte Freizeitbeschäftigung zu bieten, ohne dass man in die Tiefe des Geschehens eintauchen muss. Das Wichtigste ist der Spielprozess und seine Einfachheit. Zu den Arcades zählen Spiele verschiedener Genres. Zum Beispiel gibt es in Arcade-Rennspielen keine realistische Physik, oft wird Waffen eingesetzt, und noch häufiger können auf den Strecken Boni gesammelt werden, während die Steuerung auf drei Tasten reduziert wird: nach links, nach rechts und Beschleunigung. Ebenso wird der Spielprozess in anderen Arcade-Genres vereinfacht.
